Alford Waldner, age 79, of Huron died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. His funeral will be 10:00 am Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron with burial at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Welter Funeral Home, or one hour prior to the service. . Alford John Waldner was born November 7, 1935 in Manitoba, Canada to John and Sarah (Kleinsasser) Waldner. Early in life, he and his family moved to Pearl Creek Colony, in eastern Beadle County. He married Waneta Waldner on January 31, 1959 in Pipestone, MN. He worked on several farms in the Yale area. In 2003, the couple moved to Huron. Alford enjoyed watching sports on TV, including the Vikings, women's college basketball, and especially WWE wrestling. He also enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting and riding 4 wheelers. He and Waneta also enjoyed playing bingo. Alford was survived by his children, LeRoy Waldner of Huron, Linda (Bob) Elshaug of Bryant, and Donald Waldner of Lincoln, NE; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Alford was preceded in death by his parents, wife Waneta on December 1, 2006 and granddaughter Amanda Waldner.
