Alan Schlueter, age 46, of rural Iroquois died on December 16, 2014 at his home. His memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Esmond Methodist Church in Esmond, South Dakota with burial in the Esmond Cemetery. There will be no memorial visitation. Alan Charles Schlueter was born on September 24, 1968 in Arlington Heights, IL to Gene and Joanne (Aughenbaugh) Schlueter. He graduated from Conant High School in Schaumburg, IL, where he earned letters in track, cross country, and music. He attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL for two years, and then completed his education at Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota. After graduation, he worked at Earl May Nursery, where he was named assistant manager of the year. Alan later was the manager for Lawn Pros in Sioux City, IA. He truly enjoyed creating and displaying home and business landscapes. Alan was an accomplished drummer and enjoyed performing with the Northern Illinois Huskie Band as well as the Grand National Champion Silver Knights Military Corps. Alan was totally passionate with his music. He loved all forms, enjoying concerts and performing with his rock band in Illinois and Wisconsin area. Alan had a life long battle with anxiety and depression. Alan is survived by his parents, Gene and Joanne Schlueter of rural Iroquois, SD; his sister, Geanna (Jeff) DeBenedetti of Tracy, CA; niece and nephew, Caitlyn and Tristen DeBenedetti of Tracy, CA. He will be greatly missed by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Alan was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Gib and Ev Schlueter of Osceola and BC and Ruth Aughenbaugh of Iroquois.
