Alan French, age 56, of Bonilla, SD died on Monday, June 9, 2014 at his home. His funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Bonilla First Presbyterian Church with burial at Bonilla Memorial Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8 pm Friday, June 13, 2014 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour before the service at the church. Alan's family prefers memorials. Alan Dean French was born on July 26, 1957 in Huron to Norman and Korlys (Delaney) French. He graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1975. After graduation, Alan started working on the family farm beside his father. He took pride in raising cattle, hogs, and working with the land to raise a variety of crops. Alan married Noreen Welch at the Bonilla First Presbyterian Church on March 18, 1978. Alan liked to hunt, going to dirt track races, going to classic rock concerts, and collecting International Harvester tractors, big and small. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially watching his boys and grandchildren compete in sports. Alan is survived by his wife of 36 years, Noreen French of Bonilla; three sons, Bryce (Desirae) French of Bonilla, Chad (Shayla) French of Huron, Darin French of Highmore; five grandchildren, Tate, Riley, Mercedez, Joseph, Morgean; two sisters, Diane (Richard Breitag) French of Redfield, Denise (David) Hofeman of Redfield; step mother, Myrna French of Redfield; step brother, Norman (Jody) Siebrecht of Redfield; step sister, Brenda (Jason) Hammrich of Aberdeen; several nieces and nephews. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one grandson, Bailey French.
