Obituary

Al Lovett, age 66, of Arlington, SD, formerly of Hitchcock, SD, died Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen. His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 1, at United Methodist Church in Hitchcock with burial at Altoona Cemetery, rural Hitchcock. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. with family present at Riverview United Methodist Church in Huron with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.; or Thursday morning one hour prior to the service at the church in Hitchcock. Alvah "Al" Lovett was born on April 30, 1945, to Charles and Olive (Mortimer) Lovett. He grew up on a farm southeast of Hitchcock, and graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1963. He worked at Farmers & Merchants Bank in Hitchcock for many years and then in 1981 moved to Iroquois and started working at Farmers State Bank in Iroquois until 1990 when he started selling insurance and began obtaining his rental properties. Al married in 1966 and had four children. On July 24, 1982, he married DeeAnn Weber in Faulkton and from this union they had 3 children. They made their home in Iroquois until 1994, when they moved to an acreage north of Arlington. Al enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. He played men's softball and also coached women's softball for a number of years. He was a very passionate outdoorsman, spending summers fishing on the Missouri River and hunting in the fall. Al was a member of the Hitchcock Jaycees; American Legion Raymond-Hart Post #84 of Hitchcock; and American Legion Post #42 of Arlington. He is survived by his wife, DeeAnn of Arlington, SD; 7 children, Janet (Duane) Deneke of Huron, SD; Charles (Connie) Lovett of Burbank, SD; Allisen Stirman of Highlands Ranch, CO; April (Jeff) Noteboom of Burbank, SD; Dawn Lovett of Fargo, ND; Dyan Lovett of Fargo, ND; Dahn (Amy) Lovett of, Sioux Falls, SD; 12 grandchildren, Dustin Hinker, Braedon Hinker, Henry Lovett, Jessie Lovett, Jeremiah Bradshaw, Brandon Bradshaw, James Stirman, John Noteboom, Shaunna Noteboom, Katlynn Noteboom, Shelby Noteboom, and Emma Noteboom; 3 brothers: Larry Lovett of Aberdeen, Jack Lovett of Hitchcock, and Stan Lovett Gwinner, ND; 5 sisters, Lila Chaplin of Hitchcock, Jean Semmler of Hitchcock, Phyllis Rank of Gann Valley, Betty Westall of Arlington, and Karen Ganske of Gillette, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Ronald; and a son-in-law, Danny Hinker. He will be missed. .
