Agnes Funk, age 94, of Huron, SD, died on Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. Her Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron, with burial in St. Martin Cemetery in Huron. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday, April 29 at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Friday night; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Agnes M. Sieverding, the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth (Hofmann) Sieverding, was born on March 10, 1917 on Locust Hill Farm near Epiphany, SD. She attended St. Mary's School in Epiphany, SD. Agnes worked as a housekeeper for many years. Agnes married George Schlim on June 28, 1938 in Howard, SD. To this union was born a son, Robert. George died on April 7, 1960. Agnes married Rubin Funk on April 23, 1976. Rubin died on July 16, 1996. Agnes was a member of the Catholic Church in Epiphany, SD, St. Martin Catholic Church, and Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. She was also a member of the VFW Women's Auxilliary. Agnes enjoyed dancing, knitting, gardening, cooking and baking. Agnes's greatest joy, were her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she loved to spend time with them. Grateful for having shared in Agnes's life are her son, Robert (Carol) Schlim, of Huron, SD; her 2 granddaughters, Sasha (Brian) Lavesky, and Carrie Schlim, both of Sioux Falls, SD; brother Ed (Frances) Sieverding, of Equality, IL; 2 sisters, Nita (Harold) Miller, of Lake Andes, SD, and Eleanor (Fritz) Forsburg of Pinehurst, ID; and several nieces and nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, George Schlim, in 1960; second husband, George Funk in 1996; grandsons, Brad and Dustin Schlim; and 8 brothers and sisters.
