Donna Hein, age 68, of Huron, SD, died Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Her funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with burial at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.; or Friday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the church.

Donna Hein was born Donna Marie Jans, daughter of Herman and Edna (Rath) Jans, on April 2, 1944, in Huron, SD. She attended schools in Huron and graduated from Huron High School in 1962.

On August 7, 1962, Donna married Donald Hein in Huron. Shortly after their marriage Donna worked for JC Penny’s as manager of the children's department. She left Penny’s after 5 years to devote her time to raising her 2 children and taking care of her family.

In 1979 Donna worked for Leisure Technology for several years manufacturing plastic windshield scrapers. In 1992 she accepted a job as a baker for the Huron Public School System. She retired in 2012 following 20 years there.

Donna was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she also served on several church circles and ladies aid committees; and was a Girl Scout Leader.

She enjoyed camping at the various parks throughout the area; fishing especially casting for bass. She lived a joyously good life and many of those happy moments were spent in her kitchen baking and cooking for family and friends, or happily tending her garden. She also relished the time that she could spend with her grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her husband, Donald of Huron; 1 daughter, Kimberly Mattke of Huron; 1 son, Josh (Ashley) Hein of Sioux Falls; 4 grandchildren, Tyler (Jan Marie) Mattke, Myranda Mattke, Ainsley Fahey, and Mason Hein; 2 great grandchildren, Cadence Mattke, and Clayton Mattke.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
